transience of forms
- an installation performance by E-M Mutka followed by a public conversation with sculptor Rosalyn Driscoll, introduced by Andrea Olsen,
at 33 Hawley St Arts Centre, Northampton, MA, USA, June 2024
On the kind invitation of Body and Earth International, I had a week to respond to the new arts space with 'Nancy's floor' ( in memory of Nancy Stark-Smith ), and the somatic resonances from the Body & Earth workshops taught by Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose June 3rd-9th 2024. During my visit to Northampton, I was also able to visit the studio of sculptor Rosalyn Driscoll, whose rawhide piece appears in this work on loan. I explored my ideas in Gordon Thorne's Blue Barn as often as I could in-between workshop hours and had the arts centre space to myself on two evenings. It seemed that the audience of roughly 25 people appreciated my work in this context - below are just a few impressions from the process of 'transience of forms' (click link to read Artist's programme note).

One of the tracks that inspired me:
Setting up, sewing shells into my costume and hanging the sail in 33 Hawley St
gaping, hungry mouths of shoppers ... &
abundance
